Color bloking is a technique that involves pairing different colors together to create a bold statement. It’s a fun way to insert some life into you outfits by adding vibrant hues to your every day looks.
Opting for an already curated garment versus mixing separates is a hassle free method to try out this trend; which is exactly what I did here. Contrasting colors are typically used when color blocking, but I actually prefer harmonious colors, like vibrant reds, purples, and blues. They’re just easier on the eyes, in my opinion. Neutral shades like black can add balance; and patterns are used to create an enticing visual effect. The swirl pattern in this dress just gives feminity the way it accentuates my natural curves.
The magic of color blocking is that it can literally highlight your best parts with bright colors; and block out your problem areas with darker shades.
Tips: Use two to four pieces of single-shade clothing to assemble a single outfit. Try not to go overboard with too many colors at once to avoid losing the heart of color blocking. As I mentioned before, balancing a color blocked outfit with a neutral color is a great way to try this trend without feeling over-the-top.
And as always, have fun!
